Description

Welcome to the new Mandatory Life Savers Training for City of Albuquerque Employees.

This class will teach students the skills necessary to save as many lives as possible in the event of an active shooter or other direct threat situation. Students will also learn hands only CPR, how to use an AED and reverse the effects of an opioid overdose. Students will receive hands-on training in dynamic scenarios with skilled paramedics and EMT's of Albuquerque Fire Rescue. Students will learn the same life-saving techniques that are used by paramedics and military personnel.


Course Objectives:

  • Empower participants to save the lives of the wounded

  • Obtain a basic understanding of anatomy as it pertains to bleeding control

  • Be able to identify life-threatening injuries

  • Understand and apply basic bleeding control measures

  • Understand and apply basic airway and breathing techniques

  • Be able to recognize and prevent hypothermia

  • Save their own life using their new knowledge

  • Understand and perform hands-only CPR

  • Understand and use an AED

  • Be able to recognize an opioid overdose and administer the antidote

At the conclusion of this course, students will have the confidence and skills necessary to apply basic first aid and bleeding control measures to the wounded. Students will also have the confidence to perform CPR , use an AED and reverse an opioid overdose. Knowledge is power and in this case will enable the student to save people that may have otherwise died.

The skills learned are easy to master and have been proven to save many lives.

It is our hope that you never find yourself in a situation where these skills are needed, but also that you will be confident in your abilities when necessary.
